Salt Lake City has many beautiful neighborhoods, but few are so acclaimed for timeless appeal and easy access to downtown amenities as the Avenues and Federal Heights. These walkable neighborhoods abut the University of Utah and the Wasatch Mountains and facilitate a lively and engaging community. Within 10-15 minutes residents can be in Salt Lake’s vibrant downtown taking in the theater, ballet or symphony or even cheering on the Utah Jazz. The Hogle Zoo, Red Butte Garden, and the Natural History Museum are each just a few short minutes away. On any given day, you’ll see residents walking to neighborhood restaurants, shops and parks or taking their mountain bikes to one of the numerous hiking and biking trails nearby including City Creek Canyon, the Bonneville Shoreline trail and dozens of other North Bench trails.
The classic architecture in this area was created by many notable architects that are catalogued at the University of Utah. These homes were constructed to last with true craftsmanship and attention to detail that is simply unmatched. In the Avenues, it’s not uncommon to see a mansion built next to a bungalow, apartment or even a classic cottage style home. The diverse architecture is one of the key characteristics that make this area so intriguing to such a broad population. On the contrary, Federal Heights tends to offer grander homes on much larger lots and is notorious for its picturesque tree lined streets and stately architecture. Many of these distinctive and interesting architectural structures that the Avenues and Federal Heights are known for are no longer being built making these properties true time-pieces to be adored and appreciated.
The combination of an ideal location, rich history and well-constructed homes gives the properties in these areas sound and established land value that will withstand a weak or challenging real estate market. Having strong nearby anchors like the University of Utah and Downtown Salt Lake City allows these neighborhoods to be far less reactionary in a down market.
Today, the Federal Heights and Avenues neighborhoods are some of the most highly sought after areas in the valley and there’s no question that the timeless appeal of these area homes deserve some much earned attention and appreciation. Summit Sotheby’s International Realty would like to highlight the following two properties that truly embody the historical architecture and style for which Federal Heights homes are renowned:
